Vigcal is a rich feature organizer app. Some of its features are specially that you may not see in other apps. The app is designed for wide range of user needs. It is purposed for busy individuals and business organizations use to manage events, tasks and notes more efficiently.


Vigcal is an integration of calendar, task and note into one app and put them on the same view. Each appointment, task and note will be belong to a calendar and may be a context. Calendars are colored code and data associated with them will got their color on views. With VigCal, you can easy manage your things and your time such as automatically fit your tasks into calendar with smart booking, or easy to make your things into flows with links. So that you will easy to monitor them later...

SETUP YOUR ORGANIZER

The app provides various kinds of views, organizer styles and many options for showing your data. They all have default values when app installed as new. But you can do some custom setup to suit your needs.

 

Change skin style

Skin is the theme background for your app. If you don't like the default style, try to select another style from Setting > General > Skin style. The new skin style will effect immediately

Change organizer style

App provides two organizer styles are Folder style and List style. With Folder style, your tasks and notes will be enclosed into folders, that present for Calendars, Dates or Contexts. With List style, your tasks and notes can be listed under Calendars, Dates, Manual or Contexts.

Show lunar date

App supports lunar date along with solar date. Enable this from Settings > General > Show lunar date will show the lunar data on Day view (iPad), Week view and Month view.

Change week starts

Default of 'week starts' is Monday, but you can change the 'week starts' to any day in week depend on how your working days. Go to Settings > General > Week starts from to make change

Change Days off

The days off are your rest days in week. They are usually weekends (Saturday and Sunday). But for some ones, days off may be different. Change them from Setting > General > Days off.

Hide days off on Week/Month

If you have no events on your days off, you can hide them from Week and Month view. This will help the app gets more space to show other days on those views. Go to Settings > General > Hide days off on Week/Month to make change.

Work time

The app lets you define your work time for each weekday. The working time on a day also can be used to count your busy/free time on that day. It also can be used as time slots to book your tasks into calendar automatically.

Show previous/next month's days on month view

If this is enabled, the current month view will show data of next/previous month's days that are overlapping on it. Do this from Settings > General.

Show balance time

Balance time is included a bar, that reflects your busy/free time in horizon graphic on Day and Week calendar view. And free/busy time counted on Day, Week and Month view. To make change, go to Settings > General > Show balance time.

Count balance time range

This option just effects if 'Show balance time' option is ON. If you choose 'Work time' for this setting, then the app will count your busy/free time in working time of your weekday. Otherwise, it will count all-day (from 12:00am to 11:59pm of each weekday). Make change this from Settings > General > Count balance time in.

Use 'duplicate' as 'copy'

When selecting an event or task, you can either duplicate it or just copy its information for 'paste' later. If you setup as 'copy', the application will cache information of the selecting item in its own memory, then you can paste to another. Otherwise, application will duplicate the current selecting item as new one. Change this from Settings > General > Use 'duplicate' as 'copy'.

Default calendar for new event

Specify the default calendar for new event, from Settings > Events > Calendar, will assign new event to this calendar when event is created.

Default context for new event

Specify default context for new event, from Settings > Events > Context, will assign new event to this context when event is created.

Default length for new event

Event length is the duration of that event on calendar. Go to Settings > Events > Length to specify the default value for new event you want.

Displaying recurring events on month view

Some recurring events such daily recurring events are that you know it always happens day by day. So you may want to hide them from this view to save space for other events. Go to Settings > Events > select an option under Recurring events on month view for that.

Delete duplicate events

For some reasons from syncing, you events may be duplicated. Go to Settings > Events > Delete duplicated events to clean them.

Default calendar for new task

Specify default calendar for new task from Settings > Tasks > Calendar will assigned new task to this calendar as default when task is created.

Specify default context for new task from Settings > Tasks > Context will assign new task to this context as default when task is created.

Default length for new task

Length of task is the duration that you estimate to do the task. Select default value from Settings > Tasks > Length will assign this value as default to new task when task is created.

Where would you like to see your task on app?

Go to Settings > Tasks > 'Show tasks on' section and you select where on your app you would like to see your tasks. Tasks will show on all views as default. Just uncheck the view you do not want to show task, they will disappear on that view.

Minute interval for time change

When you use date picker to specify time for your data, it will refer to this setting to show minute interval. For example, if you setup minute interval is 5, then minute interval on date picker will be 0, 5, 10, 15...This setting is also referred to change event time automatically when you moving it on calendar. Change this from Settings > General > Minute interval for time change.

OPTIONS OF SHOWING DAY TASKS

Day tasks is an option on your tasks view. It may be 'Today'/'This day'/'This week'/'This month' tasks. Day tasks will show you the tasks not completed based on 'start & due' or just 'start tasks' or just 'due tasks'. For example, if you choose 'start & due' and you are on day view, then the task view will show you all tasks that has start or due on the day you are viewing.

 

 

Show achieved tasks in views

Enable this option from Setting > Tasks will cause your completed task leave in task view after completed.

Delete duplicated tasks

For some reasons, you tasks may be duplicated. Use this function from Setting > Tasks > Delete duplicated tasks to clean them.

Set default values for new note

You can specify some custom default values for new note such Calendar, Context, Font, Text Color, Highlight color, Alignment for creating new note. After creating, these attributes will are automatically assigned to that note as default.

Select default of input style for note

With note, you have two editing modes. They are input plain text and hand drawing. Select 'Text' as default will open the new note with keyboard. Otherwise, app will open new note with hand drawing mode.

Where would you like to see notes on app?

Default is notes view will be shown as sub view in all views. But you can remove it by uncheck the view you do not want to show from Setting > Notes > Show notes on.

Adjust notes view height on main views

Some users would like to see more tasks but less notes. Some others are otherwise. So the app has two options for notes view's height. Select 70% if you'd like to see more notes but less tasks.

Security your app with passcode

To protect your app's data with its own passcode, go to Setting > Security and input the passcode. If you specify one, app will ask you the passcode every time you open the app. Passcode is locally so that we can't support anymore when you forgot it. So for safety, please enter an email to receive the passcode when you forgot it. In that case, just select recover passcode from login screen, your passcode will be sent to our service and the service will forward back to your email for recovery.

NAVIGATION

The app supports many kinds of navigation. Below are the ways you may need to know:

Navigate between Day, Week, Month and List view

To navigate from Day to Week view or another views, and vice versa, you can swipe left/right with two fingers on these views to change. Another way is:

- On iPad and OSX: select on the top segmented bar with appropriate view name

- On iPhone: tap on the date information button (the yellow one) top bar. Then select appropriate view name on top of presented view.

Navigate from date to date, week to week or month to month

To navigate from a date to another date (or week to week, month to month), you can swipe left/right with one finger on appropriate view. With 'swipe' navigation, you can go next or previous day by day (week by week, month by month). To jump from a date to another:

- On iPad:

  ++ Jump to date: tap on a date from the mini month of Day view (top right in portrait or bottom left in landscape).

  ++ Jump to week: tap on week information button on the top of week view, then select the week number you would like to jump to on presented pop-over.

  ++ Jump to month: tap on the month-year button on the top of month view, the select the month you would like to jump to on presented pop-over.

- On iPhone: tap on the date information button (the yellow one) top bar. Then select appropriate view and tap on the date/week/month you would like to jump to on presented view.

Jump back today

- On iPad: tap on the 'Today' button on Day, Week and Month to go back today

- On iPhone: tap on the Day/Week/Month number button on the top left of the app to go back today.

Jump to Day view from month

If you are on month view and you do a double tap on any day cell on it, the app will jump to Day view and open that day. On OSX, right click and select 'Open this day'.

ARRANGEMENT
Arrange your data by groups

The application allows you to specify many ways of arrangement your data. And they can be separately on each view. For example, you can specify to view tasks and notes under calendar groups on Day view, but Date groups on Week view, and Context groups on Month view...Just select a kind of group for each view you want.

For ordering your calendars (also contexts, tasks and notes), the application allows to order with title, important level or data date. You can easy change default settings for that at the window pulled from 'more' button on the top bar.

Custom showing extended views

Extension views are Task view, Note view, Coming view, Timer view, Scheduler view and Achieved view. You can custom to show them on your main views.

- On iPad or OSX:

++ To show/hide the Task view on the main view, just do a setup from Settings > Tasks.

++ To show/hide the Note view on the main view, just do a setup from Setting > Notes.

- On iPhone: the iPhone version will have the group of extension views on the bottom if the iPhone is on portrait mode. And on the right side of the application when device is on landscape. The bottom bar will be horizon on portrait and will be vertical on landscape. The application has a button at the bottom left, that used to show/hide the bottom bar. To show any extension view, make sure the bottom bar is visible and select appropriate icon for that view. To hide the displaying extension view, just tap on its icon again on the bottom bar.

On iPhone you can also expand the extension view to be full view by tapping the collapse/expand on the left of that extension view on the portrait mode.

COMING - FOCUS THINGS

The application supports a focus things view, as a glance view, where you can see events, tasks and notes are on time, or upcoming within next 24 hours (counted from current time). From that, you will be easy to view how is the things going.

Coming now

Things in 'Coming now' section are tasks, events and notes that are on time. If they are due tasks, events or notes, you will see a count down timer to count the duration down until fired the end time of events, or due date of tasks, or end date of notes . Coming now data may show you the passed time, that is presented by its color.

Upcoming

Things in 'Upcoming' section include the first task, the first event and the first note, that are upcoming within next 24 hours. If it is an event, you will see when it starts. If it is a task, you will see when it starts/due. If it is a note, you will see when is the note date.

DO IT NOW !

If you have no coming data, you are free at that time and you would like to do something. You can make something to be 'do it now' by some ways below:

Book a task

Book a task: book a task to calendar may put it at time if that task can be fit into current time slot. Therefore it will be on coming now. To book a task, select that task and select 'Book' button on its detail view.

Drag an event, a task or a note and drop it into Coming section

Drag an event, a task or a note and drop it into Coming section will make that item to be coming now. That means it will automatically be changed its event starts, or task due, or note date to be current time. To enable drag & drop an item, on iOS, just tap and hold few seconds on it.

QUICKLY ADD & FULLY ADD

To save your time, the app provides some kinds of adding new data. You can quickly add as well as fully add at anywhere in your app.

 

Quickly add event

To quickly add event, just tap and hold on the time line with iOS or click/drag with OSX, where you would like to add, on Day view, Week view or Month view. The new event will automatically get the start time from the time line where you are tapping. The end time will be automatically calculated by default event length from the start. Other attributes will be automatically filled by setting's default values that you setup before. For the title, you either can input from keyboard or select from 'icon & text' template or pull down from contact list.

Another way to quickly add event is creating new event from Weather forecast. Select '+' button on a day of Weather forecast table and select to add event. The app will automatically suggest start time and end time for your event on that day.

You can also create new event from external link. For example, select a supported attachment file format from your email box, tap and hold it until a pop-up window appears. Then select the app to make link data for a new event. The new event will be created and it will automatically link to the document.

Quickly add task

You can quickly add task by tapping '+' button on tasks section. This way you can input the title and select the calendar for the quick task. Other attributes will be automatically filled by setting's default values. For the title, you either can input from keyboard or select from 'icon & text' template or pull down from contact list.

If you are using iPad version, you can quickly add task into any calendar by tapping on that calendar on tasks view and input task name on the pop-over text box. You can quickly add multiple tasks at a time

Another way to quickly add task is creating new task from Weather forecast. Select '+' button on a day of Weather forecast table and select to add task. The app will automatically get due for your task on that day

You can also create new task from external link. For example, select a supported attachment file format from your email box, tap and hold it until a pop-up window appears. Then select the app to make link data for a new task. The new task will be created and it will automatically link to the document.

Fully add task, event or note

To fully add task, event or note, select '+' button on the top right of the app. The new detail view of task, event or note will appear with full attributes for your filling.

Task & event detail

Menu and extension menu in selection mode

When a task or an event is selected, a detail view of that item will be presented in a pop-over. For iOS, the top bar is the basic menu of that item includes Duplicate/Copy, Timer (for task), Booking (for task), Edit. Pull the content down by finger will show the extension menu includes Delete, Print, share Email, share Facebook, export PDF and Done (for task). For OSX, just right click for the full menu.

Task, event detail content in selection mode

Detail of a task or an event will include task title or event title on the top, then the description next. If it has a location, you will be able to show and route it on the map.

Each task (or event) can have a checklist, that is formatted as sub tasks and associated with it to help you know what need to be done for that task, event.

Task and event can be invited via email. So if it is inviting, you will have a list of invitees on its detail.

Task and event can be shared to other users via VigCloud. If it is sharing or shared by other user, the list of shared with or shared from will show on its detail too.

Lower on the bottom is the linking of this task/event. If it is linking to the other objects, all of linking objects will be shown on linking section. A task, event can link with document files such PDF, text documents...as well as media files such photo, video or audio.

Task or event can also link with other tasks, events or notes. This will help you make your things into workflows of relative things. When you browsing any item in a flow, you will see the the others via their link relationships. The workflows are useful to trace the history, or monitor future relative tasks. It may help you to manage your tasks more properly.

Detail in editing mode

When a task or an event is in edit mode, and if you are using 'Duplicate' as 'Copy' function, and you have copied a task, event before, pull down the detail view with finger will show the Paste button - for iOS. Select that button will paste the copied data into the editing object.

In editing mode, you can manually specify a title, location, time, importance, alarm, checklist, invitees, sharing, linkings, calendar, context...

For fast input, the application supports 'Icon & text' template that is a predefined 'icons and text' set for use. When an item selected, the icon will be shown on the title and if that item has text, the text will be filled as task's title, event's title. 'Icon & text' set is an open set that you can modify, add new of delete to make your own predefined set for your using.

You also can pull contact name from built-in contact list for fill the title of the task or event.

Create checks list

Checks list just can be created/deleted in editing mode. Select Checklist cell to pull the checklist data. From there, you can add new items, priority items, check/uncheck items or delete items. To delete any item, swipe to left on its body to enable Delete button with iOS, select Delete button to delete.

Add links

Adding links for task, event is quite simple. You just select Links cell on detail view and select button '+' from links view. Then select the relative task, event or note you would like to add. After selected, they are linked to that editing task, event. You may want to link the editing task, event with media files. It is simple too, just select the existing media from Photo library or take/record new one from that links view menu.

For document file links, the files are normally attached in your email, tap and hold the file you would like to link to the editing object from your mail box, then select the app and then select the task, event you would like to link to.

To remove any existing link, just swipe to left on its body, the delete button will enable. Select it will remove that link out of the editing task, event.

Convert task to event and vice versa

A task can be converted to be an event and vice versa if you drag and drop it from its section to another. For example, you can tap and hold on a task in task section on main views to enable drag & drop - for iOS version, then you drag it to calendar and put it on time line, the task will be automatically converted into event. The similar scenario for converting event to be task.

Create note links for task/event

You can create a note from a task (or event)  from task (or event) section on the main views. Just tap and hold it and drag and drop it into note section. A new note will be automatically created and link to that task or event.

Done and undone a task

A task can be marked as completed, from task view, or from its detail view. From task view, just select the check box at its head to mark done it. For iOS, task can be marked as completed from its detail view. Select the task to show detail view then pull down the detail content with your finger, an extension menu will appear, select the check button to complete the task.

After a task is marked as completed, you will see it on Achieved section on the List view. To un-done it, just select it and select Un-done button on the detail bar menu. If the task is leaving on task section after done too, you can select checked box again on its head to un-done it.

SMART BOOKING & UN-BOOKING
Smart booking tasks

The app provides you a smart way to put your task into calendar automatically. When you book a task from its menu or a group of tasks from actions view, app will look into the task start date, task due date (if any) to determine the window on calendar. Then it looks into task length to determine the length of time slot that task will take. And it will find an open time slot within task window on the calendar. If any open time slot is available, the app will fit your task into that time slot for you. This is the best way to efficiently manage your time. With this feature, your tasks will be never overlapped and they always get the best fit on your calendar.

When a group of tasks (top 10 tasks or all tasks) is booked, the app will book for task by task based on its order on list. That means the top task will be higher priority to be booked. But that does not mean the top tasks are always get top position on the calendar. This depends on each task window (start and/or due) and task length.

After a task (or group of tasks) is booked, they will appear in Scheduler section in list view. This will help you easy to monitor if they are past or some adjustments of other events may make them to be conflict such as overlapping time.

Unable to book a task?

Sometime you may not be able to book a task. The reason may be the window of its start date and due date is too shot. But during that window time, you have no open time slot that can be fit the task length. Another reason is the task length may be too long that you can't fit in into a day calendar. For those cases, you will need to adjust its due/start or task length to be bookable. 

 

Un-book tasks

To un-book a booked task, you can select it, and select 'Un-book' icon on its detail menu. The task will be removed out of calendar.

To un-book a group of booked tasks, select from the action menu. All booked task will be removed out of calendar.

You can re-book any task after un-booked them.

ADVANCE NOTE
Creating a note

To create a note, you have several ways. You can select '+' button on notes section on main views, where notes view appears as sub view to add new note. Or you can select '+' button the top right bar of the app. You also can create note from weather forecast view or create from an attachment of an email and link to new note.

Note modes

Note has two modes: read only mode or editable mode.

In the read only mode, you can view whole its content and you can do some out actions such:

- Export content to email, PDF, photo.

- Post to Facebook.

- Created task, events from that note.

- Set important for that note.

- Achieve the note.

- Route on map (if note has location).

- Make a call from a note phone number.

- Create contact from the note content.

- Search on web with some selecting words on note content.

You also can play media links (photo, video, audio...) that linked to this note or browse the tasks, events and other notes linked to it.

In the editable mode, you can do:

- If you are in plain text input, you can change calendar, context, note date, tag, background for the editing note. You also can set an alert, import a link object from web, make links from media library, or existing tasks, events or other notes for it.

Note content can be formatted such as font styles (for whole content of some words), highlight, underline, strikethrough, text color, text size...In this mode, you can insert any links of document, photo, predefined shapes, media into note content.

- If you are in drawing input, you can draw anything with your finger with full drawing options. The app supports multiple styles of drawing such solid line, dashed line combined with Outline or not. In drawing input, you can easy change line width, color, transparent...any time and for each drawing item.

The app can combine plain text and hand drawing into a note content. In drawing edit, you can add multiple drawing page as you want.

 

 

 

Major attributes

Note has many attributes you may need to know:

- Each note will associate to a calendar to classify your notes.

- Each note may have a context as second calendar for classifying purpose too.

- Each note will have a note date. The note date is for some purposes: to show the notes on that day or to setup alert for note. The note date also can be used to create due task if you create task from note or drag and drop note to tasks section to create task.

- Note may have location so you can see it on map.

- Note may have tag, defined as a hint to show on note view.

- Note may have it own background.

- Note content can have multiple format styles...

 

 

 

Directly create task, event from note

You can create task or event from the note content in the read-only mode when you open it. But you also can create task or event directly from the notes section. Just tap and hold any note item in note list or note folder to enable drag & drop - for iOS. Then drag and drop it into calendar or task section to create event or task. After dropping the new item will get maximum first 80 letters of note content to create event's title or task's title. And the note will be automatically link to that event/task.

 

 

 

TIMER & INVITATION

In some cases, you will need to know how much time you have expended for your tasks. The app provides a timer so you can do that. With timer feature, you can 'time' multiple tasks at the same time.

 

Time/pause a task

Task can be timed with a timer. To do that, select that task and select the clock icon on its detail menu, your task will be timing. To pause a timing tasks, select that task any where in the app then select Pause icon on the top bar of its detail. A task can be timing/pausing many time. If a task is timing or pausing, it will appear on Timer section of List view. From there, you can see how much expending time for the task. On each timing/pausing task on this section, you will see a Log icon on its tail (right side). Select that icon will show the full history of the timing.

 

 

 

 

Timer log

Timing log is the full timing history of each timing task. It includes a total duration on the top and detail of fragments. Each fragment will be start time and end time and sub total. On this log view, use your finger to pull down the content, you will see and extension menu that allows you print, email, post Facebook, export PDF or CSV the log.

 

 

 

Invitation

You can invite a task, event to your friends, who are using the same app, via email. After received, invitee can accept or decline the event or task. Each time you have change on that invited data, you can send an update to invitee.

 

 

 

MAP & WEATHER
Things on map

The app supports a way to show your data on map view. If your tasks, events or notes have locations, they can be shown on the map view of the app. Here are some cases of showing your data on map view:

- When you go to somewhere and you would like to know how many tasks, events and notes around that location with a distance. The app will let you scan for your data based on their locations within 20km distance from your current location.

- When you search your data based on location and you would like to see where their location are on the map.

- When you would like to route the task, event or note on Map with its location..

 

 

 

Weather & weather forecast

The app supports day weather and weather forecast. The day weather is today weather information on today view.

Weather forecast is weather information for next 10 days. You can see them in week or month view. To see all weather forecast, select the weather button on day view, the weather table view is presented. From that view, you can do some actions such add task, event or not for a specific day.

 

 

SYNC, SHARE & SAFE
Synchronization

The app can sync directly with many sources such as Google Calendar, Google task, built-in Calendar, built-in Reminder, Toodledo and AweCloud. You can connect your app to sync with some or all of supported sources. Just go to Settings >Synchronization to enable that. The syncing is always doing automatically in the background, but you can do it manually by tapping on 'Full sync now' on the window pulled from more button on top bar.

AweCloud will help you keep all your things together across your devices. It is our free service so you can register an account as free. AweCloud is purposed for storing your data as a safe place.

 

 

 

Share your data to friends or coworkers

By syncing your data with AweCloud, you can also share your data with your friends or your coworkers via its service. The shareable data are calendars, events or tasks. To share any shareable data, just select it and add AweCloud IDs to sharing section on its detail. Then your friends can get it on their side.

Sharing feature may be useful for organizations to assign tasks to team members or just sharing your tasks, events between coworkers.

To receive the shared data, you must sign in AweCloud from your app and enable to sync with AweCloud from Settings > Synchronization. Then you will see a list of users who are sharing data with you. Then you can allow to get shared data from sharer and the sharing data will be pulled to your app.

Data has two sharing mode: read only and writable. Writable mode is full permission sharing that you can do any editing on sharing data source.

 

 

 

 

BACK UP & RESTORE

You can do backup your all data into Dropbox as an option. It requires that you will need to have a Dropbox account to do that. If your data is not so big, just use the free account. Another option is using AweCloud for that. We are continuing improve that service to fit most of your needs.
